We had an awesome late start day today!
We missed many of the kids who went to work with their parents and we hope everyone had a great day!
Tomorrow is Media Center day!
Also, BOOK ORDERS ARE DUE TOMORROW!
We did not do planners and there is no homework tonight! Enjoy the beautiful weather!

Marvelous Monday!
PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Parents - on Wednesday your child MUST PACK A NUT-FREE lunch for our Detroit Symphony Orchestra field trip. Due to the timing of the event we have historically eaten lunch on the bus. That being said, IT IS IMPERATIVE that your child's ENTIRE lunch is NUT-FREE. Thank you in advance for your diligence. We have also asked the kids to dress nice for the performance! It is always a fun occasion to dress up!

Fabulous Friday!
We had a wonderful weekend and this morning's trip to see Born in China was AMAZING!
An update about birthday treats:
Thank you to everyone for your vigilance by keeping any edible birthday treats nut-free and store made with ingredient information. However, we would still like to encourage non-edible treats/novelties or simply an extra recess. As the weather gets warmer the kids will certainly appreciate the extra time outside!
Project update:
The kids have been working extremely hard here in class on their research reading projects. You may have had your child tell you he or she needs certain items on Monday. We will work on projects here in school on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday mornings next week. We also introduced how students can log into their Google accounts to begin collecting images. PLEASE help monitor as your child searches for images. We have told students to include the words "for kids" after ANYTHING they search. We cannot wait to get going with these and are excited for the presentation day on Monday, May 1st at 1:30. As a reminder, we would like to invite you in on May 1st at 1:30 to hear the presentations if your schedule permits.

Safety Tuesday!
Today we had a Bloomfield Hills Police Officer talk to us about safety. We learned A LOT! Some of the most important information was:
***Children under 13 years of age should always ride in the back seat.
***Children under 4'9" should sit in a booster seat. The chest strap of the seat belt must be below the neck area. The waist belt must be below the stomach (it must be on the waist).
***In the car, children should be calm so that the driver is not distracted. He reminded students to help remind parents that they should not be on their device while driving.
***We learned that a stranger does not necessarily look good or bad. We also learned that it is not okay for an adult (who is a stranger) to ask a child for help. Kids should never be alone with someone they do not know - that would be a dangerous situation.
***Kids can also be in a dangerous situation with an adult they DO know. Kids should never keep secrets from their parents or trusted adults.
***Sometimes children can get abducted. The best way for kids to stay safe is to play in groups, walk or ride bikes on streets they know, and never go with an adult they do not know. If kids are in a situation where they feel unsafe or in danger, they should scream, kick, etc.
***We learned that an Amber Alert was named after a girl named Amber who was abducted.
Please be sure to discuss today's presentation with your child.
