It was a great Friday!

Today was a Fabulous Friday!  We began with book clubs - the students are seeming to enjoy reading their biography texts.  All groups are doing a great job!  After math, we worked on past and present tense verbs.

In third grade math, we worked on symmetry and continued to discuss polyhedrons.  We also checked pages 6-9 of the geometry packets.  I distributed the review which is due on Tuesday.  Our Unit 6 test will be on Thursday.  The HW is JP 154, HL 6.12, Fact Quizzes, IXL and Review due Tuesday.

After Art and lunch, we celebrated Elle's birthday!  Thanks for the mini cookie cupcakes!  Then, we began reading a Rosa Parks biography donated to our class by the Fabulous Phillip!  It ties into our biography genre, Black History Month, and now Women's History Month.

For the remainder of the day, we continued our Ecosystems unit and watched The Lorax.  There is an activity sheet that is due on Tuesday.
If you would like to re-view the old Lorax movie that we watched in class, you can find it here:

Lastly, we saw a great presentation about honeybees prepared by some BCS 5th and 6th graders!

Thursday Already!

Wow, I can't believe tomorrow is Friday!  This week has gone by so quickly!  I guess four fabulous days explains it!  We began with new biography books for reading.  All the kids were excited to find out who their biography or autobiography would be about!

During third grade math, we checked four pages of the geometry packet and then began to investigate polyhedrons.  We had an extra long math class which I LOVED; I could handle math class all day, every day!  The homework is: make three-dimensional shapes (handout provided in class), complete JPs 152 & 152 and HL 6.11.  Also, fact quizzes and IXL are both due by Sunday 3/4.  NEW: Fact quiz scores will not be saved UNLESS they meet a certain percentage of accuracy.  So, if necessary, a message to re-take the quiz will appear.

We didn't have much time after math before PE and lunch.  After lunch was DEAR time; we did not start the new Rosa Parks book that I will read aloud, we will start it tomorrow.  Then, it was time for Spanish.  After Spanish, we worked on finishing the Michigan Ecosystem PSAs.  Only a few groups will need to finish up tomorrow.  Lastly, students shared their book club projects from the Realistic Fiction genre.

THERE WILL BE NO SWIMMING FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS DUE TO JUMP ROPE FOR HEART.  PLEASE LOOK FOR THE HANDOUTS TOMORROW AS WE WILL NEED VOLUNTEERS.

Please also remember to check other class blogs/wikis for important information and homework assignments.  The applicable blogs/wikis are on the left side of this page.
