Wednesday already!

Wow, what a wonderful Wednesday!  This morning we began with a discussion of Science Fiction, our first genre of study in Reader's Workshop.  We'll officially start tomorrow but we had a nice discussion about Science Fiction since Cosmic, is a Science Fiction novel.  Then, we read more from Cosmic.

In math we worked with ordering numbers.  We also checked JP 103.  The HW is JP 104 and HL 5.2.

During writing, we worked on revising and publishing in the Creative Station.  Then the kids had Engage, Lunch, DEAR and Engineering Technology.

For the remainder of the afternoon we launched our new Ecosystems unit.  First we talked about the importance of setting team goals and then we developed a list of examples.  Then, the kid got into their new groups and designed the wiki pages.

We will have another field trip on Friday 1/20 - we'll be going to the Detroit Historical Museum!  The permission slip went home today.  If you can send it in by Monday 1/9 that would be great!

Also, Choice Hour selection sheets are due no later than Friday.  However, we are hoping to get them all in ASAP since the prize is a movie and popcorn party!

We still need about 15 more 2-liter bottles so if you have any clear ones at home please feel free to send them in!

HOMEWORK: 
*Please bring in a water bottle and a silent reading book!
1) Reading: 20 minutes for 3rd / 30 minutes for 4th
2) Math: EVERYONE: Use IXL and practice basic facts!              

3rd: Please get the unit 4 test signed if you did not already

JP 104, HL 5.2 and read the Unit 5 Family Letter

Please complete the Tuesday fact quizzes by Friday

4th: IXL, finish 5.3 and 5.4
