Today was a wonderful day! We began with daily grammar and then immediately switched for math. Yes, as you know, EXTENDED MATH is one of my MOST FAVORITE opportunities!! We had until 11:00 together!
In third grade math we learned all about factors, practiced multiplication, learned about the game Factor Bingo, and even had some time for fact quizzes. I sent home a paper set of fact tests to be given today or tomorrow. The tests should come back by Friday, corrected, with a parent signature. Also, I did send home a letter attached to the answer key.
After Engage and lunch, we had our team's Mass Production Ceremony. An email with the link to the video will come to you soon. The video is on YouTube but cannot be viewed without the link. Your child has such a priceless keepsake so please treat the moving bus as a trophy, not as an actual toy, as Mr. P suggested. It should be treasured for years to come! Thank you to all the parents who were able to make it and enjoy the video if you were unable to attend.
After the ceremony we completed planners and then spent the remainder of the afternoon on science. We investigated lifeboats to see how many pennies a boat could hold when constructed a certain way. It should have been a fairly dry activity, however, when you put a tub of water in front of a young scientist, well, you can imagine all the possibilities. We will continue our investigation tomorrow and Friday.
Enjoy your evening and I look forward to seeing moms and other parents on Friday!
