It was so nice to have full, normal day! We began with TFK instead of a read aloud and the kids really enjoyed being able to read the publication independently. There were two written activities following; many students finished during class but anyone who did not will need to turn it in on Monday.
In third grade math we worked through correcting yesterday's lesson and then we talked about the Unit 7 review. The review is due on Monday and the test is on Wednesday. For the remainder of class, students chose whether they wanted to complete written work or have computer time. Can you guess what all students (except two) chose? Well, needless to say, we had a lot of completed fact quizzes and lots of time spent on IXL. Yay!
After math we worked on grammar and focused on commas by reading a great story about how Comma came to the town of And. We did not have time for the written activity (yes, the kids were all REALLY upset about that) so we'll just do it on Monday. Today the are bringing home their Writer's Notebooks to finish/share their descriptive writing piece. Please help them revise and add details and then sign inside the notebook. We'll be starting the digital storytelling component next week and we are all really excited. That being said, if you have pictures relating to what your child wrote about, please help your child by either emailing them or putting them on a USB drive to use here at school.
After art and lunch, we had DEAR time and then went to the Media Center. We came back and worked on Map Skills before completing planners and clean-up. Lastly, the kids spent a few minutes in the back yard playing!
Have a wonderful weekend!
