Today was a great day! We began with new book clubs. We are reading about ecosystems and then we will complete a writing assignment framed around what we read. After math we worked on daily grammar and then MI history.
During math we discussed equivalent fractions at length and then moved on to exploring comparing fractions. The HW is JP 196 and HL 8.6. Please work on IXL skills S.1-S.13 for this week's 50 minute requirement.
After Engage and lunch, we had time for DEAR and time to work on MI history. We were interrupted by a few, intermittent power outages. Next, we had a classroom meeting which was very productive. We spent the next 30 minutes discussing our new science unit and I had to quickly improvise since our projector had lost power. We ended up having a great discussion and I actually wrote on the white board with Expo markers for a change and used a few post-it notes! By far, the most exciting part of the day was getting our butterflies from Mexico! Our envelope had butterflies from Mexico, Canada, Germany and over ten states! How exciting! I will work with the kids throughout the week to post to the online map - I am sure many kids are waiting to see where their butterfly landed! Hopefully some people end up posting that they received ours!
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful evening!
