Today was a wonderful day! We began with reading and writing. After math we worked on daily grammar and then continued reading and writing from earlier this morning.
In third grade math, we explored fractions greater than one - mixed numbers. We work on JPs 197 and 198. The HW is to complete JP 199 & HL 8.7 (two pages). Also, please work on IXL skills S.1-S.13 and take fact quizzes by Sunday.
After Engage and lunch we completed planners and introduced the new science groups. Next, it was time for art. After art we had a severe weather drill and then began science. Mrs. Harvath and I grouped the kids across classes so some Mali kids are actually with Mrs. Harvath and vice versa. We began investigating how to conduct an experiment. We worked specifically with pendulums today and completed an "experiment." We learned that many groups "experimented" differently so we came to the conclusion that we needed a more standard set of procedures so that all of our data would be considered valid. Tomorrow we will implement some of those procedures and then further discuss variables.
*A permission slip to view Dolphin Tale went home today. We will watch it on Friday since we won the Choice Hour Challenge and earned a movie as a reward. Since the movie is PG, we must have parental permission for your child to participate. An alternative assignment will be provided to students without a permission slip.
