Lansing Trip!

We had an amazing day in Lansing! A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to all the parents who so generously gave their time to join us as chaperones!

Both our museum tour and capital tour were led by excellent docents. We learned so much about the state of Michigan! Please check out all our pictures on the Posterous page.

Monday!

We had a marvelous Monday! We started with math as usual. In math we discussed the unit 3 test. Then, we began to take a further look into data and landmarks.

During reading workshop we finished Poppy. Today's jot was "what I wonder." After reading I introduced cursive and then we went to the book room.

After lunch and art, we spent time working on our new science unit.

We've got mail!  Look what Bennett sent from China!

Dear Mrs. Mali's class,

I have had a very very awesome and truly amazing time in China. Tienanmen Square, the Great Wall, Forbidden City, etc. etc., all of them were awesome. My favorite thing was the Great Wall of China; we rode the cable car up to the top, walked along a slippery slope and then rode down on a toboggan. The grossest thing I have eaten was dried orange peels. The best thing I ate was a kind of pork soup.

I miss you all very much and have a great Thanksgiving. See you in a week!

Super Tuesday in Mali's Class!

Today was terrific!  We began with math during which we worked with addition and multiplication.  I also taught the third graders how to use thatquiz.org for their weekly fact quizzes.  

During reading workshop we continued with Poppy and then jotted about a connection we made to our  reading.  We went into the computer lab during writing workshop to continue publishing.  Many fabulous personal narratives have been completed!

After lunch, PE and Spanish, we continued learning about the Northeast Region in social studies.  We will take the Northeast Region assessment on Friday.  We ended the day after planners and clean up with our read aloud.

We need one more chaperone for Lansing... PLEASE email me if you are interested.  We would love you to spend the day with us to make our Lansing trip a success!

Also, please return your child's report card envelope by Friday.

It was a great Monday!

Fabulous Friday!

We had a fabulous Friday! This morning began with Engage and then we had math. In third grade math we corrected the review for Monday's test. The review should be signed and returned on Monday.

After math we continued with social studies, focusing on the Northeast Region.

After lunch and PE, we finished social studies studies, read through a TFK, did planners and discussed goal setting. We also enjoyed another chapter of the read aloud and discussed the importance of being thankful for our health.

Thursday in Mali's Class was awesome!

Today was awesome! We began with math during which we began to review for the unit three test on Monday. Aft math we had a special performance by the Rising Stars. They performed Stuart Little. Then, we finished the morning with reading workshop.

After lunch and Engage we has writing workshop. After writing we filled out planners and then I read aloud. Melody is really providing a new perspective on life for us. I really think this book is going to help us become more compassionate towards others.

We had a class game of sharks and minnows to end our day! It is so great to have the opportunity to bond!

Monday in Mali's Class!

Today was a great Monday in Mrs. Mali's class. It was great to be back for a full day with all the kids! We began with math during which we continued to explore area with area models and then we took a skills quiz. After math we had reader's workshop and then writing. In writing we talked about strong endings and then heard two great stories from our very own fabulous writers.

After lunch and art, we read a story about tornados and wrote a paragraph. Next, we watched a video about energy, our upcoming science unit. Also had a brief class meeting. Feel free to ask your child what we talked about at our meeting.

Today was Brady's birthday so THANK YOU for the wonderful birthday treat!
