Terrific Tuesday!

Today was a terrific day!  I was glad to be back in the building after yesterday's competition.  The BCS Future City team did GREAT yesterday and we brought home two awards.

We began this morning with a couple videos (they are posted on this morning's post) and then we had book clubs.  After math, we had writing time where I shared the next story idea.  Some kids worked on finishing their final draft to make an audio publication, some students were recording and a few began the next story.

During third grade math, we investigated parallel and intersecting lines.  We found some amazing examples around the room and we had a great discussion.

After swimming, and lunch, we had DEAR and then Spanish.  After Spanish, we began a new project: we will research various Michigan ecosystems and then the kids will create Public Service Announcements (PSAs) related to their assigned ecosystem.

We ended our day with a classroom meeting; we always enjoy this time together as a class.

*PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THURSDAY IS A LATE START.  WE WILL ALSO GO TO THE DSO AND WE WILL HAVE TO EAT ON THE BUS.  THAT MEANS A PEANUT-FREE LUNCH MUST BE BROUGHT FROM HOME.

When we came back, we had lunch then Spanish.  I heard the fashion show went well!  I am very proud of the fourth graders for doing a such a fabulous job!  Even the third graders were able to watch.  How exciting!  After Spanish we worked on science and then the kids ended the day with PE.

What a Wonderful Wednesday!

Today was a WONDERFUL Wednesday!  We began the morning with a lesson on outlining.  We outlined some of the great aspects of BCS.  We'll use this skill in our book clubs since we are reading books from the informational genre.  Then, we read Cosmic... we need to finish so the kids can take their AR test for the Battle!

In third grade math we checked the review for Friday's test.

During writing time, I read a few excellent small moments.  Many students are ready to make their audio publication this week and next.

After Engage and lunch, we went to the Media Center to check out books since we will miss our time on Friday due to the half day.  After Engineering Technology, we worked on science.

At the end of the day I discussed Valentine's Day and an important letter came home.  Also, I passed out the next spelling list.  Please remind your student to practice as much as possible until the test on Friday 2/3.  Another important reminder: Reading to the Superbowl ENDS on Monday 1/30.  The last day to earn "yards" is 1/30, as late submissions will not count toward our team's total yards.  The Maliszewski Patriots NEED more touchdowns if we want to win, so let's KEEP READING and remember the slips on Monday!!

TOMORROW IS THE NATURE CENTER FIELD TRIP.  WE DISCUSSED DRESSING FOR OUTDOOR CONDITIONS.  PLEASE DRESS YOUR CHILD ACCORDINGLY.  IT WILL BE A FABULOUS FIELD TRIP!
