Thursday!

Today was a great day!  We spent the morning in the Media Center working on reading comprehension and math.  During this time, Mrs. Harvath and I continued with reading testing.  It is always so nice to have individual time with each student!

Today's co-curriculars were PE and Spanish.  After Spanish, we went back to the Media Center to continue with reading.  Lastly, after cleanup and planners, we went outside for recess.

Thank you, Miss Johnson for being with us today; it is always wonderful to have an outstanding guest teacher!

*PLEASE REMEMBER THAT GREENFIELD VILLAGE IS TOMORROW AND RAIN GEAR IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Thank you for reading and have a wonderful evening!

Terrific Tuesday!

Today was a terrific day back from a long weekend!  I hope everyone had a great holiday!  It was great to be back and to see all the kids!

We began with Daily Grammar and then switched for math.  In math, we went over the unit 9 test VERY THOROUGHLY.  It needs to be corrected and signed by Thursday.

After math we had an AWESOME opportunity with some of our wonderful 7/8 students.  Mr. Braisted's students made amazing models of Civil War battles and shared them with us.  I took plenty of pictures and posted them on our Posterus page.  Here is the direct link: http://mrsmali.posterous.com/

Today's co-curriculars were PE and Spanish.  Then, we spent the rest of the afternoon working on Michigan History.

After planner and clean table club, we had a few minutes for Sharks and Minnows!

Thanks for reading and enjoy your evening!

Fabulous Friday

Today was a fabulous day! We began with daily grammar and then started math early. Both grades took the Unit 9 test so we wanted to be sure the kids had plenty of time. After math was social studies.

Our co-curricular today was art. After lunch we worked on spelling tests, cursive and reading. Next, the kids shared their Native American projects with each other. The last activity of the day was "Fun in the Sun." The kids seemed to really enjoy their time outside, as you can see below!

HAVE A WONDERFUL LONG WEEKEND!

Thursday!

Today was a great day! We were SO BUSY!  We began with daily grammar as usual.  Then, during math we reviewed for tomorrow's test.  After math it was time for social studies!

Today's co-curriculars were PE and Spanish.  After Spanish we spent the remainder of the afternoon with science.  We did not have time to play outside at all, so if you notice a little extra energy in your child, that  might explain it. :-) (Well, the kids did run the mile in PE so please ask your child how it went!)

Tomorrow we will start something called "Fun in the Sun" which will occur on Friday afternoons.  We will spend time reading and writing outside.  Please send in a beach towel, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water bottle and of course a GOOD BOOK for our time outside.

Thank you for reading and have a wonderful evening!

Wonderful Wednesday!

Today was a wonderful day!  We were very busy all day long!  Also, it was great to be back in the room with all the kids at once!  We began with Daily Grammar and cursive.  Then, we went right into math.  In third grade math we checked the review.  We will finish checking the review tomorrow and then we will take the Unit 9 test on Friday.  Fact quizzes and IXL are due on Sunday.

After math we spent time reading about Michigan and the Civil War.  The kids made some great connections with the reading and had a lot to say about what we read.

After Engage and lunch, we did planners and watched the video below.  It was a great story about a young boy who persevered and maintained a positive attitude.

After art, we spent the remainder of the afternoon investigating flight during science.  Once the room was all clean, we had time for game of Sharks and Minnows outside!

Thanks for reading and have a WONDERFUL evening!

Reminders: 5/6 Camp Permission Slips due FRIDAY!  All Media Center materials were due so please bring them back ASAP.  Greenfield Village Permission Slips due FRIDAY!

I was in the building but doing reading testing with the kids today.  So, although I was out of the classroom, and will be tomorrow as well, I am still able to spend time with each child individually.

The day went very well with Mrs. Reed.  She will be in tomorrow as well.

Fabulous Friday!

Today was a FABULOUS Friday!  We began with math (which I LOVE doing).  The kids worked with multiplication using array models in order to see the larger numbers that they were multiplying.  The HW is to finish JPs 229 & 230 from class, as well as complete JP 232 and HL 9.10.  Also, fact quizzes and IXL are due on Sunday.

After math we worked on grammar, book clubs and most students also chose to work on their Native American Projects for a short time.  The students also had the opportunity to work on their cursive.

After art and lunch, we had DEAR and then science.  Although we had over an hour, it "flew" by (we were actually flying our FOSS planes) and since we went outside to do so, it seemed to make our class time go even faster!

Then, I had some time with the third graders while the fourth graders took a survey with Mrs. Nast and Mrs. Harvath.  I, of course, had math activities planned, however, we continued a movie from Spanish that the kids started on Thursday and did not finish.  The kids were just slightly annoyed with me for changing  the language to Spanish, but I did put on the English subtitles.  I am not sure what they were expecting from a former Spanish teacher.

Please remember that next week fourth graders need to turn in their 5/6 camp forms and that all students need to bring their Greenfield Village permission slip and money.

Also, a 5/6 class is collecting CLEAR, CLEANED, TWO-LITER BOTTLES for a greenhouse project.  Please consider sending them in ASAP!

Thank you for reading and have a WONDERFUL weekend!
