What a TREMENDOUS Thursday!

*Please do not click "Next Blog."

If your child has an iPod touch, a net book, an iPad or an old laptop, and you feel comfortable allowing him/her to bring it to school, please do so ASAP! We need to get the wireless information to our tech department so we can get everyone on our secure network. It will be extremely helpful in many subject areas, especially our upcoming Land and Water science unit!  *If your child will have access to an iPad, some excellent apps that I would like to use with the children are: ShowMe and ScreenChomp.

This morning we began by reading Frindle.  This Frindle business is really getting out of hand! Just ask your child...  After math, we had Writer's Workshop. We learned another strategy to help generate ideas for our writing.  We shared some really funny story ideas!  Before lunch students went to Engage.

Third grade math:
Today we learned the checking homework and math message routine.  Please ask your child to show you his or her math message from today.  We explored how there are many ways to name numbers, have a look at Journal page 9 (JP 9) to see!  We also discussed math boxes and worked on JP 10, which are the math boxes for lesson 1.6.  We had FABULOUS participants today!!  Great work by everyone!  Tonight's homework is to finish JPs 9-10 (if not done in class) and Home Link 1.6 (HL 1.6).  IXL IS AVAILABLE FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS!!  PLEASE spend as much time as you can practicing 3rd grade skills!

After lunch we had DEAR time and then Spanish.  For the duration of the afternoon continued our discussion of the water cycle.  I had many awesome helpers operating our interactive projector.  This is really going be an amazing tool for our students!

Please remember to look through and sign your child's planner and make sure all homework is complete before signing the planner.

Have a fantastic evening!
